Asbestos air monitoring means airborne asbestos fibre sampling that assesses exposures and the effectiveness of control measures.

Asbestos Air Monitoring / Asbestos Air Testing

Our  occupational hygiest / asbestos assessors have extensive experience conducting asbestos air monitoring / testing. Our asbestos air monitoring services include:

  • Control Monitoring
  • Clearance Monitoring
  • Exposure Monitoring

Asbestos monitoring services are provided by our qualified occupational hygienists / asbestos assessors. Asbestos air monitoring is conducted in accordance with the Guidance Note on the Membrane Filter Method for Estimating Airborne Asbestos Fibres 2nd Edition [NOHSC: 3003 (2005)] to assist clients in meeting the requirements of the Queensland WHS legislation.

Emphasis is placed on ensuring appropriate consultation is undertaken with our clients to ensure that the strategies developed are practical and assist in providing confidence in the implemented control measures.

Control Asbestos Air Monitoring

Asbestos control monitoring is conducted to determine the effectiveness of the control measures put in place during asbestos removal work. Static or positional air monitors are used at fixed locations to measure the level of airborne asbestos fibres. The Queensland How to Safely Remove Asbestos Code of Practice requires that asbestos control monitoring be carried out in the following locations:

  • Outside asbestos removal and encapsulating areas;
  • At the clean end of asbestos decontamination units;
  • Inside buildings, structures or ships which contain asbestos.

Clearance Asbestos Air Monitoring

Asbestos clearance monitoring is conducted to determine the level of airborne asbestos fibres in an area following asbestos removal work. Asbestos clearance monitoring is conducted after the asbestos removal work has been completed and the area has been decontaminated. An area is ‘cleared’ when the level of airborne asbestos fibres is measured as being below 0.01 fibres/mL

Clearance Certificate

A clearance inspection is an inspection of an area after licensed asbestos removal work has been completed to verify that it is safe for normal use. A clearance inspection must include a visual inspection and may include air monitoring.

Our licenced asbestos assessors conduct asbestos clearance inspections and provide asbestos clearance certificates.
